This is a tour that will blow up your mind. You will truly understand what made Italian Food and Wines the best of the worlds, and why Italians are so fussy, choosy and picky when it comes down to just eat a snack. In this tour we will take you to Badia a Passignano and Bargino, close to Florence. The two locations are hidden in the maze of its precious vineyards, in the serene shadows of its olive groves, in the spirituality of the ancient Abbey, in the warmth of the hospitality and generous affability of the people and the beauty of the countryside surrounding.

Our driver with our English speaker guide we’ll take you to Bargino to visit the Monumental cellar “Antinori nel Chianti Classico” . Moving to Badia a Passignano estate, tour of the vineyards with an introduction to viticulture and wine production, visit the historic cellars below the Abbey. Continue to lunch at Osteria di Passignano restaurant were guests will be served the tasting menu with wine pairing. The meal will be preceded by extra-virgin olive oil tasting. To complete the experience, guests will visit the exclusive Tignanello and Solaia vineyards.

After this tour, nothing will be the same.

If Florence means Renaissance, then Siena takes you back into the Middle Ages. The visit starts at Piazza del Campo, famous for its particular shell shape and for the Palio of Siena. Next to see is The Palazzo Comunale and Torre del Mangia tower over the Campo. Next in line is the majestic Duomo. We then head back out to visit the Baptistery, crypt and Opera museum to see Duccio Buoninsegna’s marvelous Maestà alterpiece from the 14th century.

To conclude this day tour, we visit Monteriggioni, which offers another trip into medieval times. The small castle still stands with 15 towers along the walls.

San Gimignano stands out among the small towns of the region, a Medieval town characterized by its towers and “tower homes” (another site recognized by UNESCO). In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance era, it was a stopping point for Catholic pilgrims on their way to Rome and the Vatican, as it sits on the medieval Via Francigena. The city’s development was also improved by the trade of agricultural products from the fertile neighbouring hills, in particular saffron, used in both cooking and dyeing cloth and Vernaccia wine, said to inspire popes and poets. The town of San Gimignano has many examples of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.

Plenty to see:

  • Squares;
  • Duomo and other churches;
  • A list of 14 towers from Medieval time:
    Campanile della Collegiata, Torri degli Ardinghelli, Torre dei Becci, Torre Campatelli, Torre Chigi (1280), Torre dei Cugnanesi, Torre del Diavolo, Torre Ficherelli or Ficarelli, Torre Grossa (1311), 54 metres (177 ft), Torre di Palazzo Pellari, Casa-torre Pesciolini, Torre Pettini, Torre Rognosa, 51 metres (167 ft), Torri dei Salvucci;

Have you ever heard of the “leaning tower”? It’s one of the famous monument in the world, and you can find it in Pisa “. Here you can admire:

  • The Leaning Tower;
  • The Duomo;
  • The Baptistery;
  • Piazza Cavalieri and more.

  • The Duomo;
  • The oval-shaped Piazza dell’Anfiteatro;

Val D’Orcia is another piece of Tuscany land famous for its stunning landscapes and excellent red wines. Gentle hills, dotted with dark cypresses, red poppies and yellow sunflowers make this region the perfect postcard to send back to friends and families. Plenty to see of course.

Montepulciano;

Saint Quirico D’Orcia;

Montalcino (you probably heard of it, thanks to the famous red wine Brunello di Montalcino);

Pienza well known also for the pecorino cheese (sheep’s milk cheese).

It was in this Tuscan town that Renaissance town-planning concepts were first put into practice after Pope Pius II decided, in 1459, to transform the look of his birthplace. He chose the architect Bernardo Rossellino, who applied the principles of his mentor, Leon Battista Alberti. This new vision of urban space was realized in the superb square known as Piazza Pio II and the buildings around it: the Piccolomini Palace, the Borgia Palace and the cathedral with its pure Renaissance exterior and an interior in the late Gothic style of south German churches.

The pecorino cheese of Pienza is one of the best in Italy, especially the version ‘sotto cenere’ or ‘under ashes’.

The cheese has ancient origins and has probably been produced in the zone since man first settled here.

Sometimes known as ‘Pecorino della Val d’Orcia’ or ‘Cacio di Pienza’ it is produced between October and July and seasoned for up to 2 months to give it its distinctive flavour.

In this tour will start visiting the charming city of Arezzo, birth place of brilliant masters Piero della Francesca and Giorgio Vasari. We will visit:

  • the Basilica of Saint Francis;
  • the Church of San Domenico;
  • the magnificent Piazza Grande;
  • the Archaeological Museum Clinio Mecenate

Second stop Cortona which origins go way back to the Etruscans. Attractions are the Etruscan Academy Museum, the Palazzo Comunale, the nearby Diocesan Museum which displays a beautiful Annunciation of Cortona by the Beato Angelico.

In this last day we take you back to San Gimignano, but this time you will experience one of the most marvellous Wine & Food Tasting in Italy held at Tenuta Torciano.

The properties of Tenuta Torciano have a landscape characterized by green hills, vineyards, olive groves, and on the horizon, by the famous soaring towers of the renamed medieval town of San Gimignano. Tenuta Torciano is a place of great relaxation, where you can savour the food and wine reality of Tuscany.  In the company of Pierluigi and his staff, you will have the opportunity to participate in the School of Wine, tasting wines, learning the combination FOOD/WINE.  The use of the five SENSES to taste wine, the GLASS GALATEO and all the VISUAL-TASTE-OLFACTORY techniques.
